German Mobile giant T-Online also announced a move into WLAN, and a plan to establish HotSpots throughout cities in it’s home market. The almost daily announcements of mobile operators into this field, shows that the threat (and opportunity) of WLAN in a 3G world is perceived as real. The real wonder is why some operators haven’t started this trend yet….<\/p>\n
And the real worry is that the commercialisation of WLAN will make it difficult for open network groups to maintain functioning networks. In a battle for spectrum, and avoiding interference, I would put my money (in the short term) on the big-money lobbyists of the business world.<\/p>\n
I jsut hope that some sensible forms of cooperation can be achieved…<\/p>\n
