The company offers contract service as well as prepaid cards.  WiFi in Austria isn&#8217;t cheap, but someone has to pay for it to create a viable business! <\/bq><\/p>\n<p>Why am I interested? Because I happen to be in Austria quite often, living in an apartment with no connectivity (not even a fixed-line phone, so it&#8217;s either WiFi or cell-phone roaming. I&#8217;ve used the metronet services before, and apart from the horrendous pricing, it&#8217;s very convenient. They have active hotspots at so many cafe in Vienna that there is pretty much always one within a few hundred meters in the center of the city. It&#8217;s broadband, and since I have yet to see anyone else use their service at the same time as me, there&#8217;s never any bandwidth issues.
