This is a project that my colleague Sebastian has been somewhat involved in as a sort of online volunteer. It is also one of the projects that we are looking to visit on our wireless roadshow, if all works according to plan. <\/p>\n<p>Mahabir has just accepted our invitation to join us at the upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freifunk.net:8080\/sc2004\/wiki\/WirelessForDevelopment\">wireless4development<\/a> workshops to be held as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freifunk.net:8080\/sc2004\/wiki\/FrontPage\">FreiFunk Summer Convention<\/a> on Djursland (Rural Denmark) in September. <\/p>\n<p>The Summer Convetion is a sort of European Community Wireless Summit, with a rocking program (well it will be, i promise) and a really great <a href=\"http:\/\/www.djurslands.net\">rural broadband project<\/a> as hosts. We have been lucky enough to find funding (Thankyou <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soros.org\/\">Open Society Institute<\/a>) to piggy back a workshop on wireless in the developing world onto this and have invited such notabilites as Onno Purbo, Dave Hughes and  Mahabir as ell as a number of our Wireless Roadshow partners. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m so excited, things are really starting to move here. What with this project, the IDRC funded curriculum project I <a href=\"http:\/\/multiplicity.dk\/archives\/000637.html\">mentioned earlier<\/a>, and a few projects I am working on with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tacticaltech.org\/\">Taqctical Technology Collective<\/a>, things are happening and happening fast these days. <\/p>\n<p><bq>After receiving his Master%u2019s Degree in Education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Mahabir Pun returned to his native village, Nangi, and founded the Himanchal Education Foundation.
